Revive That OMEGA

Received for a quick battery replacement and gasket check. A classic quartz OMEGA Constellation featuring a beautiful Mother Of Pearl dial with decades worth of scuffs and scratches on the case and bracelet links. I contacted the owner to offer re-finishing for the case and bracelet in addition to the battery job. Some times, customers will generally refer to this process as “polishing”. Alright, polishing is one form of metal finishing. Interestingly, the only polished parts in this particular watch are the gold pieces. The stainless steel here should have a brushed or satin finish.

It might seem simple as “oh well, I will polish that watch. No big deal”, but it’s not that simple. It is not rocket science either, but the watch has to be fully disassembled for the sanding, polishing and re-finishing to take place. This is simply because the gold inserts have to be polished while the stainless steel parts should have a satin (brushed) finish.

A bit of sanding, followed by running stainless steel parts under the satin finish wheels would give a satisfying look. It’s important not to round the sharp edges in the process of sanding, polishing etc.. Then the watch parts were put back together. Now, the watch is like brand new.
